Evolution - Part 7

A lot of things began to happen around the world. There were stronger storms, hurricanes, and typhoons.  Weather patterns were changing and impacting agriculture and food supplies around the world. Some parts of the world were becoming too hot to inhabit and mass migrations had begun to take place.  Even earthquakes and tsunamis were being felt and seen more often everywhere.  

The planet had had enough and was rebelling.

Hekima had predicted these events a few years back when they were in the mountains and had told Tumaini that when these events began to take place that that was the moment of greatest opportunity to begin his journey.  The journey to create the city that would show humanity the way forward.

So, Tumaini knew it was time to leave.  Over the next few weeks, he explained everything to Akili as he was preparing to leave.  He knew that she was an important part of things to come but did not know exactly how yet and he asked her to come with him. 

Tumaini explained to Akili his ability to see things to come by understanding causality at a greater scale than others.  He also told her about his ability to communicate with the plant world not only in this world but connections that spanned planets and galaxies.  

Tumaini was worried that this would all sound too crazy to Akili, but she understood at once.  She told him that she had been observing him for a while and she knew that there was something special in him.  She told him that she herself had some of those abilities but that she had never had anybody teach her how to develop or understand them better.  

Akili asked why he had to leave when there was so much to do here to deal with the what was happening to the world as it was.  Tumaini began to explain the vision of creating a city to show the world how to live in harmony with the planet.  This city would not take resources or pollute the planet, instead it would nourished it for the benefit of all living things on it.  This city will be the first of many.

Akili had a lot of questions like where was the city going to be located, how big was it going to be, how it was going to be built, or how it was going to nourish the planet. But, more importantly, she had questions about how the two of them were going to make something so ambitious and important happen.

Tumaini began to explain that he had developed a massive mathematical model that connected, with the help of Hekima and the plant world, great amounts of biological, chemical, and physical information from around the world into a model that was able to augment Tumaini's prediction abilities beyond what he was able to observe in his immediate surroundings.

Akili asked how this model was going to help them build a complete new city.  He proceeded to explain that they would use the model initially to predict movements in values and prices in financial markets.  The model would be able to predict movements in the value of grains, minerals, and other things like businesses, based on physical things like weather patterns and temperatures, but more importantly based on physical and emotional changes in people. That was the key, understanding what people were feeling.

He also explained that he had been studying financial markets, financial exchanges, capital, and debt and how the world over the last 100 years had developed a system that efficiently allows people to trade on these things based on what their expectations the future.  The opportunity lies in the fact that decisions today are made with very limited information so the risk of being wrong was greater.  Tumaini said that his model would not have that problem.

Tumaini told Akili that that was why they needed to move to the capital.  They needed access to financial markets and exchanges somehow but he still did not know how that worked exactly.  Akili told him that she had an uncle that worked for a small investment firm in the capital and that they could start there.

Tumaini remembered the moment he had seen Akili for the first time. Now more than ever he knew they were meant to be together in this journey, to help each other, and Akili agreed to go with Tumaini.

With the excitement of their new adventure, Tumaini and Akili said goodbye to family, friends, and colleagues at the University, and began their journey down the high plateau towards the valley below and eventually to the coast where the capital was.

Tumaini had never seen the ocean.
