Hekima often used the analogy of rain and rivers to explain how things in the universe often start small to eventually gain power to change things. How rain high in the mountains would form innumerable small streams as it found its way down. These streams would meet each other along the way to form bigger streams. These bigger streams would continue to join forces as they made their way down until they became a mighty river at the bottom of the mountains. These mighty rivers would collect this rain and take it all the way to the ocean to begin the process again.
The best part is that these streams and rivers coming down the mountains would carve creeks, valleys, and canyons to make subsequent flows easier. These carvings were like veins helping the whole system stay alive. The best part is that incredible beauty would also be formed in their paths and support live all along.
Tumaini had understood that creating something mighty does not have to be destructive. That creating beauty and good along the way was possible if done carefully and thoughtfully.
When he met with Kusudi and Akili that morning, he explained the rain analogy to them and how he envisioned the creation of beauty and good as they begin to accumulate capital for the building of their model city.
So they began to update their mathematical model to not only predict price movements to make a profit but would limit the profit taking to very small amounts from any one source. They would then multiply this small profit taking across a huge amount of companies and assets all over the world as to become imperceptible.
And so they began to develop and test their model. And, small streams of capital began flowing and accumulating into bigger streams and eventually into a mighty river flowing to the ocean. And the ocean was them.
One beautiful afternoon, while they were celebrating the accumulation of their first million Stranzas at their favorite coffee shop, Kusudi began to tell Akili and Tumaini about an incident that happened at work the day before. Kusudi was not able to sleep the night before but he feared their lives were in danger.
Kusudi had been summoned to the boss' office, Mr. Hatari, on the top floor of the building where he worked. He had never met the boss and was wondering why he was asked to do so now. A thought cross his mind that maybe it had to do with what he was doing with Tumaini and Akili but he quickly dismissed the idea as highly unlikely.
Once in Mr. Hatari's office, he met 5 other people that were there already. The scene reminded him of an old movie where the rich and powerful few would get together to decide the faith of the rest of the world. Or of a superhero movie were a supervillain and his accomplices were meeting in their secret lair to hold the world hostage for some outrageous ransom. Tumaini smiled at his own imagination.
After the initial pleasantries, Mr. Hatari began by asking Kusudi about Akili and Tumaini. He wanted to know why he spending so much time with them. The other people in the room were silent and watching Kusudi's reactions carefully. He suddenly felt like this was an interrogation in a prisoner's camp somewhere.
Kusudi explained that they were old college professors friends of his and that they were helping him develop better ways to invest the our the firm's clients money. They were not buying his explanation for some reason.
Mr. Hatari continued by taking a report from inside his desk drawer and to explain to Kusudi that this report was produced by the firm's black ops team. Mr. Hatari explained that the black ops team was set up a long time ago to identify fraud, cheating, unusual activities and potential threats to the firm.
Mr. Hatari continued by stating that the main conclusion of the report was that his friends were likely doing something illegal that jeopardized the well being of millions of people. He explained that his friends were accumulating a substantial amount of wealth in a manner that defied logic. Basically, his friends were not making any mistakes in their trading transactions which is statistically impossible.
The other people in the room began to opine as well. The discussion centered mostly around the current world order and how it had been carefully crafted to operate as good as it did. And, how things like this, if taking to thier ultimate consequences, could destabilize this well-balanced world.
Kusudi suddenly realized that these people were not really worried about potentially illegal activities. They were really worried about disrupting the world that they had created for their own enrichment. A world were the few owned everything, where the few oppress the many, and were the few create industry and factories that consume and destroy the finite resources of this world to the detriment of the few.
He knew that working with Tumaini and Akili was the right thing to do. He knew that these people's insatiable appetite for infinite power and wealth regardless of the human and environmental costs had to be stopped. But, he also understood that this group with their vast resources and power was going to be their biggest obstacle if they were to be successful.
Kusudi knew right then and there that he needed to stay close to this group to be able to glimpse at their intentions and activities in time for them to react and defend themselves. So, he smiled and nodded in agreement to everything they were saying. Tumaini had decided to become a spy.
Eventually Kusudi pretended to agree with Mr. Hatari and asked how he could help. Mr. Hatari began to explain his sinister plan for the destruction of what Akili and Tumaini were doing.
