Evolution - Part 13

Kipanga began interrogating Tumaini every morning at dawn.  His questions were always centered around how he and his team were able to consistently predict price movements on the investments they made. His threats were always centered around capturing and hurting Akili and Kusudi. 

Tumaini realized that all they were after was their secret on how they were accumulating so much money in such a short a mount of time.  They were solely and myopically focused on maintaining the status quo and they were concerned that somebody else could come in and upend the way of life that they worked so hard to create.  Tumaini realized they did not understand, or chose to ignore, how this way of life was killing the planet.

Tumaini tried to divert the conversation to higher-level topics under the guise that this was required for Kipanga to understand how they were able to predict price movements in the financial markets.  Kipanga patiently listened to Tumainin's stories about the universe, our planet, life, resources, dependencies, and even stories about the Monarch butterflies.  Tumaini's goal was to develop a level of trust with Kipanga that would allow him to truly understand what was driving him and his team.  He doubted it Kipanga was just driven by money.

Tumaini decided not to talk about his connection with the universe through Hekima and the plant world yet. 

In the afternoons, Tumaini would sit by the window in his cell to observe the lake, the birds, the trees, the wind, and the clouds just outside.  He was fascinated by his growing ability to look into the future through causality.  And, even though he was not able to communicate directly with Hekima from his cell, he was able to sense through the movement of the trees that they knew he was here and that there was nothing to worry about.  This is were he was supposed to be right now.

Overtime Tumaini and Kipanga began to develop a sort of mutual respect.  Kipanga enjoyed learning how Tumaini thought of the world and how everything was interconnected and how everything was moving in a predetermined direction.  Realizing that detours on the way to a greater good were normal but that they always got corrected was comforting.  He began to suspect that what he was doing was a detour and not  part of the main stream of things.  

Tumaini was always impressed by the level of respect and admiration Kipanga received from all members of his team.  Through observation he realized their connection went beyond what independent human beings develop through just friendship.  It was like their beings were interacting and communicating beyond verbal and visual means.  It reminded him of the plant world. They had created an organism composed of multiple pieces that would work for for the greater good with altruism and love.  

What Tumaini did not understand yet was why this team was perfectly aligned with the laws of the universe at the team level but was working for a tyrant like Hatari to do his bidding exploiting people and destroying the planet.

So, one day, in one of their morning sessions, Tumaini asked Kipanga whether he understood what Hatari was doing and, if so, why was he helping him.  Kipanga finally opened up and told Tumaini that Hatari had his family and that of his team members prisoners at an unknown location that they had not been able to find.  Their reward for finding out how Tumaini and his team were doing what they were doing was their families' freedom.

At this very moment, Tumaini understood that Kipanga was an important piece in their quest. He knew they would become life long friends so he decided to open up about Hekima and the plant world.

And just like that a life long partnership, and a plan were born.
